Median Post

Sorry I have not been able to post in a while...

However, I do have a lot of good stuff to post about today. The first is about Man of Steel II: World's Finest. There are three candidates for Nightwing, Adam Driver (please no), Erza Miller (hell no) and Penn Badgely. Only the last will make the Internet not explode.
Or he could come back...

The next is on the sequel to The Wolverine. Personally I feel that it should be a take on the Old Man Logan storyline. That arc is long, though, so a split into two films, maybe? Sure, due to contract issues we'll see certain characters swapped, but it's okay, I could see Hawkeye replaced with Gambit, Red Skull with Sabretooth and Hulk with Juggernaut. Also, the Logan married thing, scratch that out.
That's Mahk Milla

The third thing is, that for some reason, I cannot post on Tru School Sports. I was going to do a writeup on why Randy Orton vs. Big Show is a bad idea, but I cannot log in. So, here's the thing, my bi-weekly WWE post will be here if I cannot get back on.
It's the Big Show after a gender swap!

Hourman Should Spin Out of Arrow

While Gotham, Constantine and Arrow should all be in the universe started by Man of Steel, the show that was most recently announced was one about Hourman. Now, I do not know much about this hero other than what he does is easy to adapt for tv. Low budget allows even bad ratings for the CW to have it last two seasons. However, if the show is good, it should last more than two seasons. I mean, Human Target was okay, and did not deserve a show.
By the way, this isn't Hourman.

Hourman does not deserve a show as well, but if the producers, hopefully Berlanti, can make the show watchable. It will do well. Hopefully this show is also in the universe started by Man of Steel (recent hints by Amell suggest Arrow and Flash will be). What it needs, however, is to be in the same universe as Arrow. Flash would achieve Smallville fame, but last about half the seasons if it did not spin out of Arrow. The fact is that Arrow is sizing up to be a more successful show than Smallville ever was and the Flash will add to that shows success and it's own. Hourman, however, may be less successful, unless it spins out of Arrow.
Ooh, my nerd sense is tingling!

The character is relatively unknown, the premise is awkward, good at best and chances are nobody will care about the actors. Two seasons at most, unless it spins out of Arrow. Expanding not only that show's universe and potential, but also giving people a better interest in Hourman. If the show spins out of Arrow, expect the show to last more than two seasons. Also, expect it to be good, not like previous shows like Birds of Prey...
Who's amazing ass is it?

Sony's Spider-Man Universe

Let's face it, with Ghost Rider and Punisher back at Marvel, Sony has just lost the two important characters that had a large enough supporting cast to warrant them a shared universe.
This is Minecraft.

They still have Spider-Man, though, whose reboot actually made people lose interest in the character... and even more when they were not able to incorporate him into the MCU... making him even more pointless because The Amazing series is going nowhere...
The guy who killed the franchise... that's who!

Sony can make as many Spider-Man films as they want, but the closest they'll get to attaining what Marvel has, or even Fox, is by making films on their villains. Hell, Spider-Man has featured some supporting characters that could get their own films. The villains films would be successful, good is another fact, but Doctor Octopus is a popular enough name to rake in at least $300,000,000 if it is done well. What films can they get from here? Dock Ock for sure. Venom is a maybe.
This Venom would do exceptionally well...

The supporting cast, however? Even with the Spider-Man connection, they would need a low budget to be considered successful. Which characters are these? Well, there's only two: Hector Alaya and the Prowler. Hector Alaya is a superhero who appears in Spidey comics as the White Tiger. Creating this character and putting him TASM 3 and then launching him into his own film, brilliant slap in the face to Marvel, who've yet to get started on a similar character they own... The Prowler is a tragic hero who was blackmailed into doing bad things before (I think) Spider-Man helped him out and shit. As he started a villain, and TASM 2 has plenty of villains, don't be surprised to see Hobie Brown as an Oscorp engineer with two talking lines.
Who is that?

That's it, though, that is all Sony has for a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe.
it's Franklin!

Improvements the Blackgate Sequel Needs

Now, yesterday in my review of Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate I mentioned that while it is not a very good game, it is one with potential. I was pretty vague with all my details, so, I decided that I should probably elaborate. So, here are what a sequel needs, since Armature will definatley be developing the companion to the Rocksteady game coming out in a year or two.
Next film is Batman: Aflred Begins

* Updated Combat System - Given the game's target system, it was necessary for the combat system to be built from the ground up. Not a bad thing at all, in fact, it actually made the game feel less like a companion. However, for every five moves available in Arkham Asylum, only one is featured in Blackgate. Should that number become higher, the game will instantly look better. Now I like punch, kick and all the finite takedowns as much as the next guy, but when the number cannot beat the first game, it really is not worth it that much. So, should the combat system feature several more attacks, the game will become not only more visually appealing, but also give the player a far larger desire to actually do combos.
I don't know who this is and I'm black too...

* More Accessibility - Now, like I said, I haven't played the old Metroid games, and while this style game is fun, it is always lacking. The combat allows Batman to access the foreground and background, while staying in the middle where 2.5D restricts it to be. Now, 2.5D needs to be updated as a genre as a whole and this could be the perfect way to do it. Surprisingly, this is not a bad game, it just is very unfulfilled. So, if in the sequel, the player could use that Vita joystick to walk not just back and forth, but also around and move the camera, it would be great! Not only would the game stay true to it's genre, but also give the player more freedom.
What if...

* Graphics - I explained this point thoroughly in the review, so check that out instead.
Roadhouse.

* Gadgets - Detective Mode may be the only thing this game nailed, making it different from the other games but staying true to it's purpose. What this game did not nail, however, the gadgets. The batagarangs are wholly useless. Give these gadgets a purpose! Make the Batclaw useful again! Explosive Gel is probably the only one you did good! It's a Vita by the way, make the Cryptographic Sequencer worth it!
First time I got captions to fit properly...

And that is what Armature needs to do for a sequel. I'm sure they've got improvements on their mind, but these are necessary updates.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate Review

Would it not have been enough to just call the game Batman: Blackgate? Arkham is not the series' selling point...

I did not post on Thursday because Knight asked me not to. Friday, I do not post.

However, on to the post. I will not be reviewing the normal Arkham Origins, because there are already a bountiful of reviews on that already. While Origins, though set up to be phenomenal, did at certain points just retread Arkham City a lot, Blackgate gave us something different. A 3D game to be played as a 2.5D one, giving us a labyrinth of mazes to get past to find our goal. Now, apparently this is like some old Metroid games. I wouldn't know, the only games of Metroid I played are the first two in the Metroid Prime series and this game is nothing like that.
Oh, and there was Brawl!

Now, the game was not bad itself. It has a good combat system, though it is too reminiscent to Arkham Asylum (as in downgraded) but a horrible plot. The gameplay itself relies on finding objects with which to advance. Now the gameplay is quite simplistic, with the exception of bosses, who provide certain challenges. I should be giving this game a pretty mild score, but I will not, because if Armature makes another portable Batman game, it will be better.
This is just funny!

This game was okay, it would have been revolutionary if it was released at Vita launch (talking during cutscenes! Even if they are drawn out!), but it is actually PSP grade aside from some developments. The game, has great potential and it should easily be able to capitalize on this should Warner give Armature another game to work on. Games like these are far and few and I doubt that Armature had a large amount of time to develop it, same with WB Montreal at that point. The thing about this game is that a sequel could easily expand on the combat system and make it much better, a sequel could have a Detective Mode like Origins, and a sequel could have better graphics.
While that is not a bad costume, it's too bad all Kryptonians are dead!... in Man of Steel.

Now, I'm not one to bug about graphics because they don't bother me much. However, they do occasionally take away from the gameplay experience. If on the Vita this game looked like PSP, imagine how bad it looked on the 3DS? It is a very fun game to play once, but the replay value is brought down by graphics. This is something that must be addressed in the future, because games like Killzone: Mercenaries (I think that is the name) have proved that graphics can be made better. I mean, with more development time, I'm sure they would not have used drawn out cutscenes. Hopefully an expanded sequel, that is much better.
Now that I think about it... playing as Batgirl in a game wouldn't be so bad after all...

My Take on Knight's Theories

Knight posted a lot of theories about movies, what they could be or what they could have been.
Or is it?

The first one I'm going to talk about is his theory on the Justice League. The post is hidden somewhere in this blog, but it talked about linking a little known alien species called Tsaurons to Apokolips and adapting largely from Geoff Johns Justice League: Origin. I get this, differentiate them from the Chitauri by not making them hive minds. I liked this idea, but personally, I feel that the Justice League needs to be different. It cannot have Green Lantern, so replace him with an established character that the public likes: Green Arrow. Honestly, though, Justice League: Origin would have to be the best comic to adapt the film from, but with Justice League: War coming out I have only two better comics in mind: Identity Crisis and Throne of Atlantis.
Yep.

Now, he and I both love Spider-Man 3. I posted before about how if it was released in 2012, it would have been met with much better reception, considering that The Avengers suffers from the same flaws as it does. He had one theory about Spider-Man 3 and that was to extend the series out, because with all the plot points 3 had, it could have led to three or four more films. I agree, but I would only have spread it out to two films, up to Spider-Man 4 if given the option. What I would have done, on the other hand, is eliminate either Sandman or Venom from the film, it makes for a better film.
Makes for a better film!

Thank you all for listening.
