No Posts Until Sunday

Yeah, just letting you guys know that I will not be able to post until at least Sunday. That means my post at Tru School Sports too will be delayed.

However, as I promise news, I shall deliver you some news. Another Godzilla trailer has debuted, apparently it was leaked so it won`t be up for long. However, from what I hear it should be on comicbookmovie.com so go check it out there.
Oh-ho-ho-HO!

Can Jupiter Ascending Be Any Good At All?

Ah yes, Jupiter Ascending, how I had hope than then lost it at the name Wachowski.

I mean don't get me wrong, with movies like the first two Matrix's the Wachowski brothers special people have had two very good films. But then one got so pissed his wife abandoned him he became a girl and then he-she screwed up Matrix 3, Speed Racer and am wholly glad they did not direct V for Vendetta (they are still pretty good at screenwriting). I won't deny, Clout Atlas was very good, but that was their last hurrah and I will be surprised if this is even remotely okay.
It's brother and tranny now.

Let's look at the cast, though. It stars Mila Kunis, a known actress who does very good and professional work. I mean, she doesn't have the best acting, but can pull of a very good performance like she did in Black Swan. Channing Tatum on the other hand - is also very good. The best part of G.I. Joe: Retaliation if I may. I mean, look at his upcoming movie list, the dude is a very good actor. Then the supporting cast, Sean Bean! Amazing! Wait, he's with James D'Arcy and Douglas Booth with Tuppence Middleton (I don't know this one is, her name sounds funny, though)! These morons can get a good cast, I'll admit.
I don't know if I can think of a good caption here...

Let's look at the plot now: Jupiter Jones is an unlucky Russian immigrant who cleans toilets for a living. She encounters Caine, an interplanetary warrior whom the Queen of the Universe sent to kill Jupiter. Caine tells Jupiter that the stars were pointing to an extraordinary event on the night she was born, and that her DNA could mark her as the universe's next leader. You know, that doesn't sound half bad, which means it has the potential to be very good. But then again, given that only one half of the production crew is good, and there is a very good chance they could phone in their performances, expect this movie to get 25 % on Rotten Tomatoes. However, I may be wrong and the Wachowskis could have their groove back and may motivate the cast to a 60 - 80 % ratio on Rotten Tomatoes. Expect the worst, however.

WWE Battleground Review

All right, expect me to post on Tru School Sports sometime next Saturday.

As for WWE Battleground - worst pay-per-view of the year. I am honestly wondering why they added this PPV. I wondered that when they announced it, I mean literally, the gap between Night of Champions and Hell in a Cell has always been good enough. Let's just go on:

Damien Sandow vs. Dolph Ziggler: It's funny because people always seem to be complaining to WWE about these two losing. This is an ironic situation. Ziggler won and stole the pre-show, but to be honest, there was no motivation behind this match. No matter how good it was and it was good, I had no reason or incentive to watch this match.

Alberto del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam: I don't care that RVD is back. I don't want ADR as the World Heavyweight Champion. Nonetheless, with this victory, I feel that the championship has some prestige restored to it again. It was just the way these two were fighting was like Saskatchewan chicken fighting (which I would know nothing about...) it was just so damn brutal and an awe to see. The way that ADR won it made me finally think of him as something as a heel, something that was missing since after his first feud.

Real Americans vs. Canada and India: I like Khali and Santino, but this feud was a huge pile of crap. This was probably the worst match of the night and for a night where WWE could have evolved Khali into something less than a joke, they made him Brad Maddox's corporate crap. Skip this match, please.

Curtis Axel vs. R-Truth: Curtis Axel is credible as a heel, but there is just something about him that does not have me believe in him. I don't care who his grandfather was, he just looks like a joke. That beard, that horrible physique. I swear, he was better off as Michael McGillicuty. Against R-Truth, that 41 year old joke, he looked especially bad. This match was only better than the previous one because it didn't treat itself like a joke.

AJ Lee vs Brie Bella: Who cares? Good divas match I guess...

The American Dream Team vs. The Shield: One of the best matches that this event managed to pull out. After three matches that nobody cared about, this match really shone. It's always nice to see Goldust, but to see his WrestleMania 30 match against Cody Rhodes begin to gain traction, as well as the Shield to have finally lost was wonderful. The storyline told itself with the amazing moves and well, overall everything performed in the match. This was a classic.

Bray Wyatt vs Kofi Kingston: You wanna know something really scary? There's a monster faction in the WWE in 2013 while the Shield is still around! You wanna know something scarier, they can only wrestle good during parts of the matches they have.

CM Punk vs. Ryback: An okay match, very good at times. It really shone on CM Punk, putting him back on track to the top as a face. I'm sure this feud will continue and possibly end at Hell in a Cell or maybe even the Survivor Series. Not likely, but this match was good. Especially since it ended the same way it did almost a year ago. Not a classic, but worth remembering.

Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan: Every time we see this match it continues to exceed expectations. It is just so damn good. Every time these two come into the ring, they put on a wonderful performance. The storyline heading into this event, not as carefully handled as last time. It was good to see Brad Maddox come out instead of Triple H and the Big Show angle was handled okay. Nonetheless, this match, I expected it to suck (I mean, how many times can you be wonderful) and while it was a few pegs less than their last performance, it was still worth it.

On to Hell in a Cell!

Could Need for Speed Be Good

 * This is a repost. For the new post please check below.

The game series is in decline, but could this film save the franchise? Well, it looks like it just may be good, let's look:

1) Aaron Paul - The man is an amazing actor and has potential to show off his skills in this movie. One person alone cannot save a movie, they can display great prowess and be acknowledged as great despite the shit around them and actually bring a movie's score up considerably. He may not be able to save the movie, if it sucks, but he sure can save himself.
Ain't in Saskatchewan no more...

2) Story - The film takes the story of what appears to be several of the games and it's own original touches. I can see some Hot Pursuit in there, Underground 2, Most Wanted and of course, some of the original The Need for Speed (I was three back then and what I believe may have been a plot might have just been racing, fuck if I know). In total, the film appears to take the stories of the games which present the protagonist in high profile situations. If done right while staying true to the games, the film could gain fan opinion, maybe not critical success, though.
Is this supposed to be funny?

3) Dreamworks - This studio has very rarely released any really shitty films in the past couple of years. Yes, there may have been some, but if anything, this film will be average at worst, nothing too damaging to the video-game movie genre, but nothing too beneficial. Dreamworks is very careful, so just trust in them.
It should say Spanish at the bottom... Spanish.

Transcendence - A Film That Is Clearly Nolanized

I mean it's made by the cinematographer for The Dark Knight Trilogy and the dude who won an Oscar for Inception, Wally Pfister. It is clear that Transcendence, which Nolan is unsurprisingly producing, is the brain child of Pfister. The film he believes will put him on the map? Why, because it seems so conceivably similar to something that Nolan would do.
Remember when this was so cool you asked your friends if they'd seen it ten times?

I mean, a man uploaded into a computer? That is clearly Inception: a man uploaded into dream levels. The only thing remotely original about this is that the terrorists are real this time, not dream security. Oh, and guess what, Cillian Murphy is in it! That should make for some good Scarecrow memes...
DAMN!

Maybe now we can get DiCapricorn, or, how about an actor whose not a New Yorker in every damn movie? How about... Johnny Depp! Honestly, it's like all of Nolan's movies, each film has the same supporting cast (minus Michael Caine this time around) but the lead star is different (you try getting DiCapricorn and Bale in one movie).
Ok.

I mean, maybe Pfister could do something original. Oh, did Turbo not turn out too good for him? How about Moneyball. The dude has all the talent in the world yet he goes the safe route, making the Inception remake that nobody will realize is because it has Johnn Depp. It'll be a good movie no doubt, but it'll also be a been there done that in a better way you Carnosaur kind of movie.
Meet Carnosaur - As in some cheap studio releasing this "interesting" crap 21 days before Jurassic Park to steal profits! LONG CAPTIONS!

Which Movie Could Become the Highest of All Time...

... and beat the record that was set by James Cameron. Now, I'm going to list off six movies, three that are in development and three that are purely hypothetical.

1) Fantastic Beasts - It may not be a Harry Potter film, but it is still set in the same universe. That universe is so beloved that it has literally more legions of fans than soldiers the Roman Empire had in it's prime. The fact that their universe is continuing, not the story of Harry Potter (angry nerds - it would be a bad day if), means that several fanboys and fangirls were very happy. Some are angry, but not the majority, especially since Rowling is involved. If anything, this, because of it's featuring of more magical creatures than ever, could get a lot of non-Harry Potter fans as well. This movie, simply because of it's precursors could beat Avatar at 2 Billion.
I don't get it? Is it supposed to be an insult... a compliment?

2) Man of Steel II: World's Finest: We all saw how much of a success Man of Steel was, we all watched The Dark Knight Rises topple theaters in it's wake. Nothing in cinema has truly been more thought out of than Superman looking Batman in the eye and the two of them teaming up and stopping evil, nothing except maybe Batman beating Superman or Superman kicking Batman out of orbit. The fact is, that no matter what you call the best comicbookmovie or the best film character, Superman is an icon to the world, his shirt is seen in every country and to see him face the one character that is probably bigger than him is too appealing. This could beat Avatar at maybe 3 Billion.
Prepare for Man of Steel III: Revenge of the Nerds

3) Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man Tell No Tales: Johnny Depp is one of the most renowned film actors in the world and his recent films have only really been screwed over by bad marketing and a bad release date. Aside from those disasters, On Stranger Tides did not do better than those before it, so why am I putting this one on? Easy, because this has a completely new team to it, it is Disney's cash cow, foreign interest in films is getting higher and higher and pirates are going to be very appealing to mass audiences after Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag comes out. Put in those factors and there is a movie that can just barely beat Avatar.
You know what else comes at that price? A race transplant!

4) Avengers vs. X-Men: Now, let's be honest, after The Last Stand, X-Men Origins was bound to have bad commercial success. The critical "success", however, in turn, screwed over First Class, whose positive critical success managed to return commercial interest to the franchise. A fact which was proved by The Wolverine whose success will make Days of Future Past a likely hit. Take in the factors that the X-Men franchise has life again and mixed with the undoubted success of the MCU, you have a hit that could stomp Avatar to dust with about 3 Billion.
"Some people's hurt feelings can trigger wars." - Batman (by Grant Morrison)

5) Bond 30: Now you may be wondering why I'm not listing the next James Bond, but that film simply proved that spies are relevant again. Expect the franchise to fluctuate, but if Sony plays their cards right, Bond 30, the anniversary Bond, maybe the unveiling of a new Bond (and possibly cameos from the Old Bonds) could beat Avatar. If so, though, just barely.
People when they see this took the place of Avengers: Age of Ultron on this list.

6) Gone With the Wind: Called the greatest film of all time. With inflation, the highest grossing film of all time. How much could a remake make? A hell of a lot more. Let me explain, if the first one made so much in a time when it truly was not relevant, how about in a time when a reboot would be thrown into the New Mexico desert if it was bad? Answer is, good or bad, people would flock to see this movie so that they can make their own judgment. It would probably become the most pirated at all time. This would win, at maybe even 4 Billion.
'Cause yer a Casablanca Fan!

Breaking Bad Finale Review

Well... that escalated quickly. I probably will not be able to post on Monday's either.

Knight normally likes it when a finale is not treated with any glorious respect, but is rather an episode treated the same way a normal episode is treated. I think series finales should be different, they should be bigger, bolder and better. This can go awry like Dexter, but in the case of Breaking Bad, it is perfect. Knight may argue that Breaking Bad was done just like the rest, but it wasn't, it was much, much better.

That was creative.

The pacing, I will admit was not rushed enough. At times it went on too slowly, but the final confrontation between Walter White and Jesse Pinkman was everything that was needed. Jesse finally doing something for himself, driving off and changing his name into Tobey, opening a garage and being framed for a crime he didn't commit to spark the events of Need for Speed. Walter examining the meth was a nice way to do things that most finales fail at (Seinfeld), reminiscing the past.

I smell a Simpsons spin-off!

Honestly, this review may seem hollow, but watch the episode, and if you have not watched the show, watch it. Liven up your life, you might need it.
